2012 Award Winning ProLife Poem
Our Unquestionable Gift, by Regina
Marie Shawhan. Regina won 1st place in the
national March for Life high school poetry
contest that had 750 entries. Hundreds of
thousands of pro-lifers from all over the
country will march in Washington, D.C. on
Monday, Jan. 23rd, 2012 and the student winners
of the poetry, essay, and poster contests will
be honored.
Our Founding Fathers sat one day and declared
without a doubt. The rights that God gave
to mankind and what they were all about.
The most important they asserted was one endowed
to all:
The right to life is guaranteed to persons large
and small. The Principles of Life are
these, so listen carefully. We must
protect the life of each who trust so
helplessly. The unborn's voice to us is silent,
and though his plea is wordless, We must listen
with our heart as each life has a purpose.
Conception is the beginning; a new soul where
there was none. Why would you end a
person's life when it has just begun? With
silent cries the unborn plea with us to be their
voice. Their home cannot become their
tomb; life is the only choice. There can be no
exception and not a compromise.
The stage of life does not matter when it comes
to saving lives. If the baby has a
handicap, or is severely sick, we must remember
life to all is an unquestionable gift. It
is not our place to make the choice of who will
live and who will die. God alone will
decide, when it is time for us to say goodbye.
When the lives of mom and babe are threatened,
we must not despair; Our obligation is to make
sure they both get equal care. And now
these Principles of Life, so clearly stated and
explained
Must be applied and shared with all; let no
doubtful souls remain. We will be the
guardians of those who cannot fight, And
upon the Principles of Life together will unite.
Each person with a mind and soul for life he
qualifies; No change can to the rule be made,
No Exception, No Compromise!
2010 Award Winning ProLife Poem
Silent Summons,
by Regina Shawhan, 2010
A wordless plea, a silent cry,
A voice we can’t ignore
The helpless unborn call on us,
To fight their desperate war.
Let us take up the mute request
Of those within their mother’s womb
And speak for ones we cannot see
Whose home must not become their tomb.
Pray for those who do not care
And let our voice be heard.
Do not hesitate; be strong,
Spread the awful, shocking word.
We can make a call to Congress
And declare our firm belief,
That every life is precious
Be it very long or brief.
No exceptions; we cannot choose
Who will live and who will die.
This decision is not ours
The right to live we cannot deny.
Let us stand together now
And defend those who can not fight.
A knife, a fear, a silent scream.
The unborn call; let us unite.
